I Want Lanvin

Lanvin Spring/Summer 2009, Paris

I wanted to post this shoes a while ago, but for time issues I couldn't, but now it's time. When I first spotted these sneakers on the Lanvin S/S 2009 show, I was way too curious of what these shoes may look like up-close and what was going to be the retail price, (even thought I wasn't probably going to buy them). However, it's almost enough to look at them and admire the talent from the design team at Lanvin, especially Lucas Ossendrijver, creative director of Lanvin Men. First of all, I don't know about you, but I never seen pearls attached to sneakers, even green pearls at that. The colour palette is pretty interesting; green, silver and white, it's not something I'll put together, but I like the overall effect that the shoe evokes. The design is quite familiar, it looks kind of similar to their footwear collection from their F/W 2007, which I love, but this time, they manipulated it, and tweak some elements so it looks very Lanvin, but not really. I like the fact that the pearls are not completely covering the shoe, then it would look too overdone and over the top, but the fact that they are carefully place on the side, makes the shoe look very expensive, sophisticated and wearable. The laces do look sort of fake, but you can always switch the laces with other pair of kicks you already own.
If you like the design, then you are more than welcome to check out the price point. The shoe is currently being sold at selected Lanvin boutiques and colette.fr for just $1,005.47.

Alexander McQueen Men A/W 2009/10

am mens fall 09 from Creamcream on Vimeo.
Alexander McQueen is synonym with cutting edge fashion, and this time was not an exception. This show was one of my favorite and definitely one of the best shows in Paris, for the Autumn/Fall 2009/10 season. In fact, I dare to say that this is the best if not one of the best Mcqueen shows I ever witness. The collection feature the usual McQueen-esque elements: impeccable, refined clothes, attitude coming from the models' theatrics, and a whole lot of drama. As I see the models coming down the runway, the same thought kept coming to my head. "Who is this guy" and "What does he do". A rich mafia leader who happens to know who McQueen is?, a not-so-feminine circus man/dancer/fighter?, a butcher? or just a boxer who happens who have a stylist?. McQueen certainly designs characters that are going to live in his world that not too many people assimilate. The characters were created exclusively for those lucky-ones that are watching his show. They kind of look like actors ready to shoot a dramatic/scary old English film. The look was powerful, sexual, brutal and a bit gothic and the glare on the models' eyes demonstrated that. Overall this was a great show, almost an instant classic.
If I could afford McQueen's luxury, you bet I would get every single piece of that collection. Well not every piece, but I'll love to own the first black fur coat, the different toned suits, and the footwear will not be a bad addition to my wardrobe, but since I can't I might as well fantasize about owning those treasures =(.

Jeremy Scott x Adidas

When I first heard of this particular collaboration, I was eager to see what Jeremy Scoot was going to create for Adidas. Jeremy Scott is all about fun and originality and Adidas is all about performance and style, so this seemed to be a great temporary fashion marriage. From Scott, you can expect anything, from 5-feet blonde wigs to over the top, almost ridiculous get-ups coming down the runway. I love the fact that he always tries to put his own personality and aesthetic into his work, and you can witness that when you watch his shows during Paris fashion week. From what I seen in his past shows, Jeremy never takes himself too seriously as so many other designers do. He strives for innovation and is always thinking about his celebrity costumers such as Madonna and Katy Perry.
A while ago, I saw a sneak peak of the footwear collection, which is part of the collaboration between these two iconic brands/figures in fashion. I was impressed by the first shoe design which feature a huge adidas logo on the tongue of the shoe with a wing flaunting on the side of the sneaker, I thought that was a brilliant idea, something that I never seen before, very dramatic, very adidas, very Jeremy. So I guess that was foreshadowing of what was bout to come in the apparel department, eccentric and energetic but stylish pieces that can be worn to the gym or a day out with your peeps. The cheetah print track-suit can be a bit too much, but it can sure brighten up your day, as well as those purple and yellow high tops, which won't go unnoticed wherever you go. The oversize white tee with the big zipper printed on the front is actually one of my favorite pieces from the collection. It has this playful personality and most importantly it needs no introduction, you can consider it a conversation starter. Also, that black basketball jersey top with fringe is genius, it may not work for everybody, but it's truly creative and very exciting, it's just not "another" top, now it's a Jeremy Scott and Adidas top.
Moreover, I feel this was a successful collaboration. It has the true soul of Adidas with a playful JS twist to it. It's sporty, stylish, with a huge splash of personality coming from both parties. I hope we can see more collaboration coming from high-end designers like JS with more affordable brands such as Adidas. I think it gives the fashion-conscious costumers a new outlook on how to dress and how to spend their money wisely in great products, especially in this rough times, if you want to be a good "reccesionista-fashionista".
Below, Jeremy talks about the collection and being original.

Tao for Ralph Lauren

This is HUGE. Fresh face, Tao Okamoto, the hottest asian model right now is in the ad of a hardcore American designer. That just tells you that the fashion industry is changing and evolving into a more welcoming, open-minded industry. Thanks Tao for making the change.
