Paris Vogue 2009 June/July, featuring model Anja Rubik and shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vlnoodh Matadin, ( Doesn't Anja looks more appropriate to attend a rodeo bull-riding match than to take a walk around Champs-Elysees?, regardless, she sells the issue).
French Vogue is definitely leading the way, they always take measured risks when it comes down to their editorials, that's one of the reasons I love that magazine so much (even though I don't speak french). I like the fact that the spread is trying to send a message but with a more conceptual fashion conscious twist. Terry Richardson who shot the spread and one of my favorite editors Emmanuel Alt who styled the looks, I feel like they were trying to capture the "french girl" in her everyday life; drinking tea on one of millions of stylish cafes, rolling skating around the Eiffel tower or even getting dressed in a sexy lingerie ensemble for her boyfriend for a passionate night of crazy monkey sex, literally. French Vogue never bores me, there is always something quite exciting and intriguing about their magazine every month. The spread also features one of my favorites Natasha Poly. I can't wait until the August issue comes out...
