Is she crazy? or What was she thinking?, may be your immediate reaction when you first notice Anna Piaggi eccentric sense of style, a very influential Italian fashion writer and style icon. Her work has been publish in Italian Vogue and Vanity and most European designers want this lady on the front-row at their shows. As you can see, she definitely stands out in a crowd, with her bright furs and interesting hats, her combinations of different fabrics and crazy colors makes her a solely unique individual. I admire Anna for her inner confident, because not everybody would walk out of their house looking particularly like that. Her iconic hats, made by Prudence Millinery and colorful canes (that she carries around everywhere), are staples of her so personal style. In Addition, Piaggi rubs shoulders with quite a few powerful personalities in the fashion industry, such as Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld and Manolo Blahnik ( who designs a lot of her shoes). She's also a muse for distinguished milliner Stephen Jones and a fan of British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.
I think Anna Piaggi is truly the epidemy of confidence and a unique sense of style. There is no other women I know, that has the level of security and strength to pull off her looks. What makes her an icon, though at least to me, goes beyond fashion, but the influence she has by being able to express herself in her writing and be heard by so many people who pick up an issue of Italian Vogue, for instance. I think her work deserves acknowledgment and recognition, so this is a small tribute to her.
